Innovations from Finland: The world´s first mobile experimental container TEKLA
The world’s first mobile experimental container TEKLA brings the latest learning innovations to students and teachers. In the Finnish capital Helsinki, a completely new learning space has been developed: the mobile experimental container TEKLA. Learners and teachers can participate in interesting workshops where new learning technologies are being tested.
The recently completed experimental container TEKLA meets many needs: it provides the latest educational technologies to teachers, students learn important skills, and startup companies gain experience from end users of products in the development stage.
As it is not tied to a specific location and can move from school, kindergarten and educational institution to another, the mobile learning environment equalizes access to the latest technologies for learners.
The experimental container contains a variety of tools for learning new skills. Students were particularly excited about the programming-related technologies, but in TEKLA, they can also practice problem-solving skills or express themselves artistically, among other things. Workshops held in the container involve experimentation and learning.
– TEKLA has brought an educational and exciting field trip right to our school’s own yard, even to the “farthest” school in Helsinki! It has been interesting to get to know new technologies and become aware of them. The technology container offers plenty of materials for various parts of the curriculum, and many versatile skills are also realized in its workshops, says teacher Eija Saavalainen.
What kind of mobile learning environments have you used? Or what kind of co-operation do you have between schools and local companies?
