Principals from Shanghai getting to know Finnish Education
Last month we welcomed a group of principals from Shanghai, China to Tampere, Finland. The headmasters and principals work at private schools of Shanghai World Foreign Language School, one of them in an IB school in China and also Kindergarten staff members were joining the tour.
As our visitors were keen on learning about curriculum and assessment in Finnish education, Learning Scoop´s experts held lectures focusing on those themes. How national core curriculum differs from local curricula? What kind of teaching materials are in use and what learner centered learning approach means in practice?
Another important topic during the study tour was educational support. Participants got to know categories of support and counselling practices. What does integration and inclusion mean in Finnish schools and how it is implemented? Student welfare services are something we are happy to share more information about!
Our visitors also got to know Finnish learning innovation LessonApp – a mobile tool for teachers to plan engaging and motivating lessons. The lectures were held at the University of Tampere.
On Tuesday evening this group attended Finnish Nature Experience which was run by our partner Seventen Tours. A sunny evening included hiking, a light dinner cooked outdoors, forest mind activities and traditional Finnish games.
Participants didn´t need to travel back home empty hands. We hope the Book Finnish Education in Practice: What, Why and How will deepen the learning curve and new knowledge they got during the program.
Study Tour season is on and we are welcoming new visitors next week again! Last call for November: if you would like to join Principal Study Tour or Arctic Pedagogy Study Tour, please contact us asap.
